David M. Deutsch, Master of Photography has been serving discerning clients in the Metro Detroit area for fifty years. The studio, formerly known as Leo Knight Photography was located in Southfield, Michigan until March of 2005. Our primary focus is to create artistic images that capture the relationships of the subjects that we photograph. The studio is well known for it's sensative children's portraits, it's energetic high school senior sessions, it's artistic family portraiture and elegant wedding and event photography. Many area businesses turn to us for their corporate needs including head shots for publication and location portraits. We are both technically qualified and artistically skilled to capture all of your family's milestone events. David M Deutsch, Master of photography is located in Commerce Township, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit and is accepting assignments in the Scottsdale, Arizona area. We are available to travel to any location of your choice.

The creation fee is $150 at our studio location. This allows us to take the time and use the materials necessary to create your one of a kind portrait.

Other location prices are based on time and travel. Examples of this might include your vacation home, Lake Michigan, Mackinaw Island, Red Rock Canyon, Lake Las Vegas or the Ocean.

For your convenience all session fees are prepaid to reserve your date. You can use Mastercard or Visa; please have the card information ready when you call.

What type of clothing should we wear?

Our goal is to produce a beautiful portrait of you showing emotion and the relationships you share with your family, and the best way to begin is to remember one word... SIMPLICITY! Your clothes should be plain and simple, not loud and busy. Always wear long sleeves.

In order to direct the viewer’s eye to the faces and the story telling elements of the expressions, simple, plain outfits in darker tones photograph the best, as they are not distracting.

For on location or environmental portraiture, we recommend simple, solid colors that blend well together. Avoid mixtures of light and dark tones together as this creates "visual confusion". Also, patterns in clothing should be avoided. With careful planning and communication with us, we can be sure to create an artistic portrait that illustrates the unique qualities of your family.

How will we view the images from our portrait session?

To aid you in your portrait selections, the images you will see will be presented via our electronic projection system. After your portrait session, we will set up a viewing time for you. During this time, we can show all the images including cropping, black & white, color or sepia toned ways to have your portrait look. We understand this is a sizable investment for you and we want your selections to be the correct ones.

Be sure to bring everyone who is involved in the final decision to the viewing appointment. Because your appointment can last up to an hour or two and is not very exciting for young children, we recommend finding a baby-sitter during this time.

There is no charge for the first viewing and we ask that you plan on making your decisions during this scheduled time. Additional viewing sessions are charged at the rate of $100 per viewing session scheduled.

How long will our images last?

When we complete your timeless piece of art with custom framing, we guarantee our portraits for a lifetime of enjoyment. We use only the best materials available on the market today!
If you choose to have someone else perform the framing of your portrait we cannot guarantee your art piece due to unknown circumstances beyond our control.

We have designed our very special Gallery Collections with you in mind. They are a series of portraits that are grouped together in our most popular sizes and finishes.
Gallery Collections provide you with substantial savings over our Ala-Carte pricing structure and are the only portrait “packages” that will allow you to apply the $150 Studio Creation Fee toward the purchase of your portraits.
Selecting one of our Gallery Collections also entitles you to the following:
Discounts on additional portraits and framing. Your original Portrait Session slide show authored to a DVD, a twenty image session album of your favorite poses and a three image 12x24 wall panel.
