When I was a child, I knew that I wanted to be a photographer. Not the kind of “snap-shot” picture takers you see today, but a true portrait artist. I recognized early on that there was a distinct difference.

I spent my adult life learning to see and understand light as well as the technical operations of cameras, lenses and film.

Now I have taken my passion for photography to the next level and have mastered how to see and capture emotion, expression and feeling.

Today, more than ever, in this digital era in which we live, it is increasingly important to recognize the work of a true artist from that of a “picture taker”.

Together, my wife Tammi and I work as a team to create and record memories that the average “picture-taker”, amateur or professional may never dream possible in their entire life.

So while an artistic photographic image should evoke emotion and feeling, creating that image requires the proper technique, experience and most importantly, talent.

The proper use of light, shadow and body positioning are only a few of the many elements involved in creating a timeless piece of art that your family will cherish for generations to come.

It is our new found purpose to create and tell the emotional and “relational” story of the clients we photograph. The images which we create are more than just pictures. They are interpretive pieces which embody the marriage of art and family.

Studio History

David M. Deutsch, Master of Photography is one of the oldest privately owned portrait studios in Michigan. The studio was founded in 1956 by well known Master Photographer, Leo Knight. Leo coined the phrases “Capturing your Finest Moments” and “Because You Deserve the Very Best”. Since that time many employees have come and gone but none could compare with the talent of the Master Photographer.

Fast Forward to 1991.
Leo, looking forward to his retirement wanted to find a suitable replacement to carry on the tradition of exquisite photography that he had started so many years before. That is when he recruited David Deutsch to eventually take over the studio. Leo wanted the best. …Simply stated, that is what he got.

Since that time the studio has undergone name and location changes to keep up with the ever changing tempo of society. David M. Deutsch, Master of Photography is positioned to capture the special relationships that families share and record them for future generations to enjoy. We still believe that “You do Deserve the Very Best” and we have taken this one step further to create “The Marriage of Art and Family”
